Whitecaps In The Cornfield features the band's songwriting and studio work across the time period likely to be filed under 'pandemic era.' Songs "Life Stuck In Pause," "Walking With The Devil" and "In Between" pay homage to the social disruptions of the time.
While the Thieves last album featured only sporadic input from member Steve Allen, the band welcomes him back to full participation on this album as he chronicles both love lost on the album's title track and the love found once more on "Back Again," featuring another vocal duet with his now new bride Tammy Allen. (Thieves fans may remember her from the Laverna album's "Higher")
Fans are sure to be pleased that the humorous tongue-in-cheek songwriting attitude still abides as the album opens on the exasperating "Almost" and closes with eyebrow-raising "Magic Mystery." And oh yeah...never tell the Thieves it's "Your Birthday" at a live show unless you just enjoy the spot-lit punishment.
ABOUT THE COVER ART: The first name of Gregory was given to one of the band's principle songwriters thanks to his father Michael surviving combat in Vietnam (US Army's 1st Infantry Division) alongside our album cover artist Gregory Lago. Greg's decades of artistry spans as far back as his Vietnam service and his painting, sculpting and wood block prints are well-known in the Thousand Islands region of New York where he resides with wife Karen and family.
